The Open Networks Lab (in collaboration with ONUG), headed by Prof. Lakshminarayanan Subramanian, focuses on research in the areas of computer networks, mobile systems, security and their applications towards computing for the developing world. More recently, our focus is migrating towards extensions of the previous themes using software-defined infrastructure. Our research is driven by a strong desire to develop innovative solutions to address real-world societal challenges, especially those pertaining to the use of computing and networking technologies to address pressing problems faced by users in developing regions. Our research philosophy places a strong emphasis on end-to-end system design, where we design, implement, deploy and evaluate our solutions in the real-world and push successful ideas towards large-scale adoption.
